Ms. Kathy K. Hart was born and graduated from high school in Cuba, Illinois, a small rural community located in central Illinois. Ms. Hart received her Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from Bethel College, in St. Paul, Minnesota. Prior to enrolling in law school, Ms. Hart gained professional and life experiences during her four years employment as a legislative aide at the Minnesota Senate. She later worked for West Publishing Corp. in Eagan, Minnesota (now known as Thomson Reuters) in government relations and corporate communications.
Ms.Hart received her Juris Doctor degree from William Mitchell College of Law and was admitted to practice law in the State of Minnesota in 2000. She was admitted to practice before the United States District Court in 2005. She has also successfully represented a client at the Minnesota Court of Appeals which resulted in a published case, Frank-Bretwisch v. Ryan, 741 N.W.2d 910 (Minn. App. 2007).
Ms. Hart is an experienced litigator, but believes that individuals, not courts and judges, are in the best position to decide what is in their family’s best interests. Ms. Hart strives to efficiently resolve disputes through cost-effective, creative avenues. When in the client’s best interest, she encourages her clients to resolve disputed issues through mediation. Ms. Hart is a trained mediator (Minnesota Supreme Court, Rule 114 Qualified Neutral)and also offers Parenting Consultant services.
Attorney Hart offers her clients a broad, in-depth range of experience. Ms. Hart is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association and a member of the family law section therein. She is a member of the Bar Associations of Dakota County and Washington County. Ms. Hart is also a member of Minnesota Women Lawyers, including the newly formed St. Croix Valley chapter of Minnesota Women Lawyers. Ms. Hart has represented clients throughout Minnesota, from Two Harbors to Canby to Albert Lea,as well as extensively throughout the Twin Cities metro area. She resides in the St. Croix Valley.
